Hi there. I am trying to figure out to make my background scrool in my game. It is a 2D game in C# using DirectX. I was also wondering is there any good trial programs out there that I could use to make sprites for my game. Any help much appreciated

DirectX has a sprite interface that should do all you need. More info here: Sprites. To scroll the background you can either use one large texture and just change the rectangular area within it that you render each time (to represent the screen area) or you could use tiling. E.g. so you have a set of tiles that you assemble on the right edge as the user scrolls to the right. Which tile to use is in some level data file.
