OpenGL drawing on a mesh

i've managed to load a 3d face mesh into openGL. what i have to do next is to let the user draw lines in any part of the mesh. my question is, how can the drawn line be mapped on top of the mesh, so that when i rotate or do any movement on the mesh, the line will follow? thank you very much for the help.
