Usually new versions of Max are backwards-compatible with older plugins. (I can use my Shag Hair for max 6 with Max 7 for example.)

That's usually, though. If it doesn't work, well...damn.

Does Max give you any errors concerning the plugin when you open it up? Something along the lines of "Could not load qtip21-max6.dlu, this was made for an older version" or something like that?

nope it doesnt show anything, i checked the plug in management and its there. i see the file, but when trying to export or import *.md2 or *md_ isnt there, even trying to force it to import doesnt work.

Hm, have you tried going into the utilities section and clicking "more"? Maybe they nestled it somewhere in there. I was having a similar problem with some inventor files. Have you looked at Polytans? Also, look for converters that may convert your md2 file into a max-readable format.
