Hey, I've recently gained a keyboard, and I made a few tracks. I'm new to the music game, but am willing to accept constructive criticism, and learn from anyone who wishes to aid me with advice. The track calm city, is meant to be in a quiet city scape scene. The caught track, is meant to be played in a scene where you are placed in danger in the city scape, as an alternative to calm city. This is my first try, so things can always improve. Heres the URL: http://groups.msn.com/ProjectGameAir/documents.msnw?&pps=k Thanks for your time, and I hope you enjoy the tracks.

It seems that you must register with MSN Groups first then join the group :/. Is there any way you could provide an alternative means to get the music? I already have a account and didn't mind joining, but for the largest audience, direct links are definitly a plus for all us 'lazy' game dever's.

Now for the critique's [wink].

Calm City - Good start. After listening to the first few seconds I thought of some Egyptian themed music. It's hard to explain, but it's what happens after playing video games for so long [lol]. Anyways, I was expecting it to lead into something else, but it didn't. I'd like to see, er hear, some more varity of the progression so it goes somewhere, because right now it seems like just a 'segment' of some other larger piece. Definitly calm though.

Caught Oh - TBH, it was good until the 4 sec mark. Then from 4-10 it seemed to go to chaos, then from then on, resumed to be better. Similarly to the first, I didn't hear much progression, the piece didn't really 'go' anywhere. From the first 4 seconds, I imagined Bomberban for some reason. I think that kind of music would go well with a level. In this piece, the high pitched instrument is too loud and too high pitched in my opinion. I think there is too much dissonance with the instruments.

Overall not bad for your new attempts at game music. Definitly better than anything I could do now [grin]. I think you will need to work with varities of dynamics and tempo a bit for more intrestings parts in the music. I know these are really short clips and far from complete, but something to keep in mind. I'd really suggest searching the net for MIDI music of old games and listening to those for some inspiration. You could get some ideas of all the different aspects of the music and how it pertains to specific game genres .
