Hi, for a projekt I'm planning, I need to be able to create a random city. What I need is a city plan or some sort of a city structure. I later need to be able to name the streets and put special building in the city as well as some other stuff. If there is a resource for this stuff please post a link or recommend a book. Thank you. PS.: Also I need to be able to create floor plans, links to that stuff is also very helpfull.

Check this paper out too, it's been implemented in CityEngine (they have some very nice pictures on their site)

Wonderful pictures _DarkWIng_! I'd like to work on a city generator myself, i just never get started. Did you begin with L-systems and do you have an hindsight into the algorithms? (plot-generation, building geometry generation).

How hard do you think it would be to expand on this to allow the user to move around the city and interact with the surroundings in real-time, almost like a fully interactive SimCity?

These documents you've posted are fantastic! It really interests me, I'd love to be able to do something like that myself.

I only used building creation algoritem and some caching from that paper. The buildings are still placed on normal grid. I tried to create infinite city using runtime creation and caching but I ran into some problems with my engine :). It was all just playing around.
