Hi, I would like to ask if it's a good idea to use TCP in an internet game (since i see most internet games use UDP). this application will just have around 2-8 players, with just simple games such as chess or checkers and such. are there any big reasons why i should use UDP on an internet game instead of TCP? (obviously, i'm no expert guru on networking :) ) i need your opinion. thanks guys! :)

Hello _nomad_,

NorthWoodsman is certainly correct; TCP would be perfect for your game.

When it comes to your chat box, TCP is still perfect. As a matter of fact, often games which use UDP for their real time games still have a TCP connection just for chatting. Remember, UDP packets aren’t guaranteed to arrive like TCP packets are. It would be bad if you kept loosing your chat packets. People would loose parts or whole lines of the conversation.
