TI-BASIC - Exec string command
Hi everyone!
I am a TI-BASIC programmer (and C++ programmer), which is a version of BASIC for the calculator (check www.ticalc.org).
TI-BASIC has many limitation, and I have found some shortcuts, but this one limitation is impossible to sidepass, as TI-BASIC does not allow to gain access to folder info via a program.
I need an ASM program that creates a variable (list) of the folders (or variables in that folder).
!!!THE PROGRAM MUST NOT JUST RETURN THE LIST AS IT WILL THEN BE USELESS!!!
In Exec it would look like this: Exec "...hex code here...",first argument
The argument could either be "" to get all folders or a foldername to get the folder's variables.
(For example Exec "4E444E754E75000" turns off the calculator)
I cant program in assembly at all, so if anyone can give me the Exec command string, then I thank you very, very much :D (ASM program will do too...)
Thanks in advance!!!!!
you absolutely completely neglect to mention which ti calculator you want help on
[most of them don't have folders]

Oh, sorry!
Actually, I didnt know some of them didnt have folders but thats because I have a Voyage 200, and have never tried any other calcs.

Why would returning the list be useless? I understand exec can't return values, but why must it be an exec string in the first place and not an asm program?
You technically can use Exec to create a program. Though you would be programming in machine code. Yuk!
I downloaded the motorola 68k manual a while back. It has all the ASM->binary conversions. Writing an assembly program and then converting it by hand to machine code is too masochistic for me.
Have you thought about writing an assembly compiler? If you plan on using Exec a lot, it might be a useful utility.
Good Luck!

If the ASM program or the Exec string command does not return a value I cannot access it from a TI-BASIC program...It does not have to be Exec string it can also be an ASM program...ASM program cannot be defined on another calc, but a Exec string command can...
As I said, I can do no assembly at all, neither do I plan to do so, but I still need a Exec string or ASM program, that creates a list.
Maybe it's too much to ask for, but I cant create this myself...
PS: Where can I donwload that motorola 68k manual???
