how to transparent surface?

how can i transparent my surface(LPDIRECT3DSURFACE9) loading from a bitmap with specified transparent color?

When you call D3DXCreateTextureFromFileEx the 11th parameter is for a color to use as a colorkey. Set that to which ever colour you want transparent, and then set these renderstates just before you draw using the texture:




Alternativly, you could generate a real alpha channel for the texture at runtime, check out this article.
