buffer-switch or not...

...that's the question, hi dudes, how many buffer switches should my card handle (mobility 9700) and what's better to use MapBuffer or BufferSubData (I mean safer/faster), (and by the way, how can i compress textures to use them in OGL?) thx in advance tgar

i assume you are talking VBOs, in which case BufferSubData() is the faster call, really as with all things you want to do the min. buffer swaps you can sanely get away with, so dont be pathalogical with trying to get rid of them all but dont go over the top with them either.

Both NV and ATI have tools to enable you to compress textures for sending to OGL
