Yep, JGF's (the Java Games Factory) backend is now almost gold (there's a few more features we want to add to make it truly spanking, but it's got almost everything you'd ever want) and we'll be launching a programming competition imminently to celebrate. And sending out press releases. And stuff. So, if you'd like to be THERE, on the site, maybe on the front page, when the attention starts coming in, you'd better get your game(s) uploaded now-ish; as of this posting, it should be at least 3 days before we go live with any announcements, so you've still got some time. All you need to do is upload your JARs, and the server will do the rest (create JNLP's, webstart-ify it for you, etc). Right now there's just two things holding us back: terms of the competition haven't been finalised yet (still in negotiation over rules and prizes), and we've got a bug in Sun's 1.4 JVM which keeps making the server run out of memory (profiling at the moment, we've put some native-mem-watching instrumentation in, and hopefully will spot the problem and fix it sometime in the very near future). There's a chance it's already fixed, because we just upgraded some of the 3rd party server libs we're using, but we *do* want to be sure before redirecting all traffic to the new server... Feel free to ask away here, or post if you want help, but you're likely to get a much faster response (and from more readers) if you post in the "Discussion Forums" on http://www.javagaming.org (which, incidentally, is pointing to a 4-month out-of-date URL; that's one of the redirects we need to put in place once the server's definitely fixed). Ha. In the first 4 people that tried to use it since that post, 2 discovered new bugs and the third discoverd an obscure one-in-a-thousand-chance parser bug.

All fixed now; it's actually worth trying to upload your games now :).

PS: someone asked about the ads...if JGF ever makes a significant amount of money - say, $100 - from those google ads (they are currently making$10 a month) then the money will be split between the authors of the different games in proportion to how much traffic + ad revenue they drove. Less operational costs etc.
