I recently purchased a second hard drive and put Linux on it. Ubuntu 4.x to be exact, which is Debian/Gnome based. Now I am looking for a nice HTML editor/php-ide to use. On Windows I always use HTML-Kit but there's no Linux version. Can anyone recommend me a good editor to use? Preferably with a built-in FTP client/explorer like HTML-Kit has (and the usual things like highlighting php/html/js sources, etcetera).

Nvu? Based on Gecko, built by Linspire.

I've heard good things about that, however I have had trouble getting it to run on Linux. Maybe Sander will have more success?

Bluefish looks promising. I wish there was a windows version... it's inspired me to write my own advanced text editor for the web, though. Once Whidbey is released I should have more time to work on it...
