Well, i learned some win 32 up to the point of diplaying bitmaps, double buffering ect, and i was wondering, what is really the best simplest thing to use to just display bitmaps? But i dont want it to be slow at drawing. I dont know about directdraw, is that better than win32 graphics?

If you want speed, you will want to use a 3D API to do the drawing because it will make use of your 3D gfx card. You have 2 choices, Direct3D or OpenGL.

I believe by Win32 you mean GDI. This is fast enough for simple games.

Win32 GDI <- Slowest:
SDL / Allegro
D3D/OpenGL <- Fastest

By using a 3d api, you don't need to do actual 3d graphics. Both API's have some support for 2d graphics, D3D has some sprite library and OpenGL has glOrtho().

SDL/Allegro should be way faster than GDI and do not make use of the gfx card, this enables them to run at decent speeds on PCs without 3d enabled hardware, though you will be hardpressed to find such PCs today.
