Does the different Service Pack versions of Windows affect DirectX in any way? I have heard of people's code being broken by the different stuff in SP2, as the code was written in SP1.. Can someone enlighten me on this? thanks.

Most of the issues that I've read about come from people (originally) not using API's and/or designing their software correctly. SP2 is a lot stricter on security/safety issues than previous iterations - thus catches out the crap code more often [smile]

Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Security Information for Developers and Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Developers will probably be of interest to you.

I've heard of XP SP2 affecting games in some roundabout ways (ie the new default-enabled firewall blocks game ports). Most of them are pretty easy to fix, and if you code it right the first time, you should have no problems [smile]
