DirectX Audio Waveform

Hi All, Thanks for your time. Is there any way in DirectShow/DirectX for me to display a audio waveform (sound levels at different time intervals) from an audio (mpeg to be specific) file. It doesnt even need to be real time. Do I need to go through the file get sound levels at different time intervals and use the DirectX API to draw the graph? If so where would be the best starting point. Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks again. Regards, Sasha
