alpha blending

I have several TGA textures with alpha ARGB32. I render those on a completely black surface. I use modulate to blend the texture and alpha values of the textures. This works ok but it seems like the images are darkened because of the black background. Anyone has an idea of using different blending methods so that although it's rendered on a black background it still is as bright as it was drawn on black with alpha 255. thanks

Well, you could use additive blending. Tends to look bad with non-black backgrounds and saturates to full white rather quickly, though.
