Hi All, I am in the very early stages of researching audio on Symbian devices and I am wondering if you guys have any experience with this. This isn't for game audio, but I am interested in any experiences you have had with audio on mobile phones. Particularly: Do you think J2ME(MMAPI) or C++(MMF) is better for audio on Symbian devices? Has anyone done any audio streaming? or dynamic music generation? I will probably be working with Nokia devices (probably 6600), any experiences? Thanks muchly, Miranda

I have dealt with audio in symbian on a nokia phone in c++. It is a very simple API. Basicly you just provide a mixer callback, and symbian will call it whenever it starts running out of audio data at which time you send it some more. All mixing and volume control is left as a task for you, the developer.

There's a very good example on doing multi-channel sounds for Symbian Series60. Do a search on nokia forums for SoundMixer.
