It's an easy programming language, yes... although there are, in my opinion, much better alternatives.

Python is a great language that's easy for beginners and is something you'll use even after you're an experienced programmer. It's useful for writing small scripts and utilities (and games) and is a good language to start out with.

Ironically enough, http://www.python.org. :)

Their site is chock full of tutorials and other helpful material about learning Python. If you're looking to slide into game development in Python (which can be pretty fun! :D), head over to http://www.pygame.org and see what you can throw together.
