program language to start with
can anybodybody recommend me a good, nice programming language to start with. but it needs to be good for games too...
Something like DarkBASIC might be a helpful way in.
In the good old days I would have suggested something like QuickBASIC, where you wouldn't be bogged down with some of the more complicated aspects of programming that comes with lower level languages like C/C++, but IMHO Visual Basic.NET doesn't really seem to have quite the same level of advantages these days.

I dont like darkbasic coz it isnt free.
you can make very nice stuf with freebasic, or basic4gl but this one is less advanced but still realy nice.

If you don't have any programming experience, I do strongly suggest you start with Python. You might particularly be interested in the PyGame module.
Java isn't bad for starting out either. But the main thing is to pick a language and stick with that. Once you learn one language, switcing to another is ridiculously easy.
It all depends. If you want to be a hobbyist and make games on your own, any of these are good examples. If you want to work on games independently as part of a team, or even work yourself up to an industry break, you'll most likely end up at something like C++ (the industry standard language). I don't think I would suggest starting there. Maybe something like DarkBasic or Python to get your feet. I spent a month on BlitzBasic, found myself trolling through it and not being challanged, and took a bold leap right into C++, which was rough. However, once I found my footing, I can't image anything being any easier.
The aforementioned sites are good for their respective languages. If you're interested in C++, look at the language tutorial at www.cplusplus.com and see if you can grasp the concepts. I find this the most feasible and straightforward tutorial there is. Good luck!

Python is free, and can be downloaded from the site I linked earlier. As for tutorial, well, the interpreter comes with a complete language documentation; there also are tutorials on the site. You may want to have a look at Dive into python, Thinking in Python and How to think like a computer scientist.
