multitexturing bug

I coded multitexturing test prog yesterday which used GL_ARB_MULTITEXTURING extension but it seemed that when i set my texture coordinates glMultiTexCoord2fARB, they got all wrong. (glTexCoord2f did work fine for texture unit 0). It's like u or v coordinate didn't get set at all and other coordinate was changing to something obscure. At some point i changed glMultiTexCoord2fARB to glMultiTexCoord2f and suddenly it started working. Texture coordinates were just right. So, really, what's the deal with this?
