restoring cin

cin.clear()

Be warned, this will leave any remaining "bad" data on the stream. You might want to use a function such as cin.ignore to get rid of everything up to the end of the line.

I tried that, but my program still conks out.

edit: didn't see your update, thanks. Also, will the getline function work aswell?
