Prior EAX experience?

Has anyone here directly used EAX before? I want to add environmental audio to our current project but with better granularity than the same environmental settings for the entire scene. (That is, I want to define multiple finite environments in a level as well as materials between any environments that aren't in contact with each other.) So has anyone actually done anything like this before and willing to talk to me about it?
