visual studio icons

with dev c++ it was easy for me to set output exe icon. for visual studio i know its possible, but i can't seem to find out how. Anyone know?

icons are resources for a program. visual studio comes with some icon just like dev c++ their all in a folder somewhere. just add a resource....

You can do it by creating a resource file (extension rc).

Here's what it will look like:

resource.rc:

#include "resource.h"

IDI_ICON ICON DISCARDABLE "someicon.ico"




resource.h:

#define IDI_ICON 0



All you need to do is create those two files (you can just do it in notepad if that is easier), and then add them to you workspace.

Actually, Windows uses the icon with the smallest identity as the application icon. You can find lots of resources in the VC's directory. I use VC.NET so the icons are located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\Common7\Graphics. For < versions, the visual studio directroy will change, but the others should stay the same. Don't take my word for it though, just go hunnt for them.
