Per vertex normals

I need to compute vertex-normals for triangle polygons. What's the right math formulas?

Depending upon exactly what you mean, you can just average the face normals from any triangles sharing a particular vertex.

(face normals can be found by taking a cross product of two edges of a triangle)

Assign to each vertex, the average normal of the triangles that have that vertex or one coincident, except those triangles that form an angle too great. Split those triangles off into another normal group. Another possible exception is triangles that use different materials, but it depends upon the material.
