Hello all, I'm using Max and I would like to add razor wire to the top of my chain-link fence, however I don't know how I would go about doing this. The chain-link was simple enough with an opacity map, but how would I make low poly razor wire on top? Thanks~ John DiSanti

Cheapest way I can think of implementing this is a long thin low-resolution cylinder placed along the top edge of your fence. Then with a clever alpha-blended spiralling texture mapped onto it you should get the desired effect.

If you need more info, i'm sure I could hack-up a l'il screeny-grab for you, though I only use maya (shouldnt be a problem).

Ok, I've made a texture for the wire and I setup the cylinder, etc... but I can't figure out how to uv map it properly. :S

The cylindrical uv map in Max doesn't work so great when the object has twists and turns for the corners.

It would be easier to apply the map to the cylinder first and then apply a bend modifier.
