Hello, does anyone know if Atari used 2d polygon rendering for missile command? I am planning on creating a clone and was curious. Also, I was thinking of the best way to launch attacks against the cities and I came up with this idea (let me know if it sounds good enough) Randomly generate a numeral 1 - 5, based on that numeral I can attack cities 1 - 5. Once I get the city x, y coordinates (stored in a table) I can use cos and sin to allow my missile to travel in a current direction and angle until the city is reached. Create a structure array of missiles and update them all with each game frame. Sound good? Or is there a easier/better way? Plus, is it important to know 2d polygon rendering before entering in 3d polygon rendering? I'm basically making projects to build up my game programming skills. Thanks. Understanding how to render polygons before you start working on a 3D game is definitely not going to be a waste. But you should also be aware that rendering them in 2D is going to be a bit different. If it were me, I would just use sprites. But that wouldn't help climb the learning curve.
