Any recomendations on some good books to start learning vector / matrix / quaternion maths for 3d graphics?

As always, I recommend this. It's clear and straightforward, and covers a lot of ground. It does assume certain conventions, the most significant of which is probably the use of row vectors. Also, the treatment of quaternion multiplication may be confusing to some, compounded by the fact that (I think) there is an error in that part of the book.

Don't let that put you off though - all math books have errors, and most work with preferred conventions. As you become familiar with the material you'll learn to work around these things. Also, I haven't read it but I believe this is somewhat of a standard text as well.
