Can any one give me the code(s) or link(s) to load up *.BMP and *.WAV files in C and C++?

Nehe covers both topics

Loading Bmp's
Playing WAV files

However, personally I would use a sound library like FMOD for playing sounds and an image library like SDLImage for loading image formats (although SDL has it's own method of loading Bmp files called SDL_LoadBMP IIRC )

Edit: Just realized this was a UNIX forum... which essentially nullifies Nehe's WAV loading tutorial

Implementing loaders from these resources should provide a challenge (because neither source provides any code, just theory).

HTH,

Personally I'd consider learning a new file format less of a challenge than a waste of time--especially since it's been done so many times
But that's just me :P
