Good books to read on game programming
Hi
I would like to say beforehand that I already bought like $200 worth of books on c,c++,game programming but I'd like some advice anyway.
Point of this thread is I'd like some advice on any good books that anyone read that they think are worth buying.
I don't mean just tell me to go to the book section of gamedev, I'd like to hear about a book or 2 that you read and liked(and thought it worth it)
Thank you ^_^ and any advice is appreciated
I've read some of beginning c++ game programming and it is a very good book. It only covers programming console apps but it has some useful stuff. I also bought teach yourself game programming with directX. Although it is a little dated now, some of the material is still good. Also Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Guru's is a good one to pick up.
If you do want to further your knowledge and have the money- 'Game Programming Tricks of the Trade' is a worthy buy but it did set me back 50GBP so its quite a beast on the bank.
Game Coding Complete - Second Edition, superb book that covers many areas of games development.
I've only glanced over Game Programming Gems I but I hear the whole series is pretty good, I should get them sometime, but they're expensive, specially if you try and buy the whole 5 (are they 5 already?) in one sitting.
I recommend Dave's OpenGL Game Programming and Jim Adams Programming Role Playing Games with DirectX.

Yeah, Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus is good (the 1st edition was still only using Direct X 7 though, but I'm not sure about the 2nd edition), as well as Programming Role Playing Games with DirectX is also good (uses Direct X 8.1)
