Totally non-interactive game for you all...
Hi all,
I am a new game developer that is currently working on a pac-man style game that is progressing without too much pain and suffering. For my next project, I want to make a 2d side scroller.
Here is the non-interactive game part for all of you...
I am tring to remember the name of game I played on the Sega Genesis as a teen. It is side scroller that I want to base my next project on.
Here was the basic game plot (as best as I can remember it):
Your hero/avatar wakes up on Mars with amnesia. You fight your way to the nearest city where you take odd jobs (delevering packages, killing escaped game-show clones, shutting down leaky reactors) to earn enough money for a fake id. With that fake id you get onto the game-show where you kill off more clones. Live through that, and you win a ticket to Earth. Once on Earth you get your memory back and learn of an alien plot to destroy earth. You fight your way into a building that has a portal to the alien world. Once on the alien world you find some way to destroy the alien hive-brain thingy and save earth.
The hero in this game carried a pistol that you could put away and take out again. You couldn't run with the pistol in your hand. Hero could also crouch and summersault (you usually didn't get hurt if you summersaulted past a monster/enemy). If the hero fell off ledge that was too high it killed him, but you frequently dangle off the edge of that same ledge by your arms and fall safely without hurting yourself.
Anyone out there remember the name of this game? Thanks in advance for your help
I don't know the name of the game but it does sound very similar to Total Recall with Arnie :P
The neat thing about FlashBack is the grid. You could only jump from certian grid points, which made the platforming a bit easier, as long as you knew how the developers wanted you to solve the jumping problem..
