Was just wondering what you guys would suggset for a linux-type environement in Windows. The only one I am familiar with is Cygwin but was curious to what else was out there. Thanks!

I do dual boot with Fedora linux. Whereas I like the Windows environment much better, I like doing my software development in a unix based environment and I'd rather just stay in Windows to do it. That Windows Services thing above sounds interesting, I'll check it out. Thanks :)

windows services for unix is pretty much the same thing, but better integrated with windows cmd. It also provides less 'stuff' than cygwin. Personally, I like installing SFU and cygwin together. SFU modifies cmd so all the unixy tools work out of the box, and cygwin provides the larger [and last I checked, more up to date] toolset.

Personally, I do almost all of my work in an putty [ssh] terminal to a real unix machine [NetBSD actually]. Then the windowing environment is still windows, but the actual CLI and dev environment is on another dedicated machine.
