The D3DRS_LINEPATTERN render state isn't defined no more in my DirectX 9.0c SDK from the-agency.sourceforge.net, and the only way to do line patterns ("stipples") is ID3DXLine. But is there another way to do it (for example by changing device settings)?

Do you mean an alpha-blended texture?

I rather thought about that easy method that OpenGL uses.
In OpenGL, you can specify a 32-bit value (0 bit means transparent,
1 means opaque).

Alpha blending or Alpha testing. It's up to your states.
Basically there doesn't seem to be a simple method anymore (i didn't check much farther though).
