Working at being a Developer is one thing, you create your game project, you develop it and get it to a stage that you belive you have something viable to the gaming world, but then you hit a black spot, you know how to make a game but then what to do with it. This is the stage I'm at now, I have developed my own project but don't know what to do with it, could you advice me what one does next, how do I get people interested in this, how do I get publisher backing and bring my project further.Im at a loss as what to do next. Here is my site and tell me what you think. http://www.planetunreal.com/alteredstate Sub note some downloads links are broken but can be ACCESSED through the NEWS PAGE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can anyone offer me advice on how to advance my project Regards Dean Avanti- Avanti Vita studios.

Great-looking website. Is this a UT2004 total conversion?

Its in ut2004k at the moment, i want to port it to unreal 3 engine, and no its not a mod, i intend it to be a commercial game, go to media-resources to see the volume of work.
(of note not all resources are show, for example 1000 tex maps are missing from the site, though 600 of these are shaders.)
Well for a commercial project you will need a commercial license for the game engine (be it Unreal or Doom/Quake). They cost in the region of $350,000 per project so, unless you have that sort of cash, you may need to think agian and opt for a much cheaper engine.

Dean Avanti, your webpage is nice. among other things..

What Obscure said is true..

let me add something to it.
You need to find someone who has money. put it all togther and pay the 350,000

simple
well you need the $350,000 to sell it, but you dont need it to build a game, though if you want the latest build you will need the money for the engine.
This is the stage im at, getting investment, though i do have a couple of leads im following first, ill see what i get from that. I really dont see with some money and a serous team to finish the game off that this cant ship and in a short time of space also.

I only have the following to do
fill levels with static meshes add lighting and gameplay elements, create code, fill out the static meshes and skin characters + animation.
Considering what is done already i dont see the game as a risk considering the amount of assets built
I attended the AGDC 2004 and I went to some interesting talks in business
about the industry. Specifically you might want to check out

and download the presentations from the website. I'll make a note of this

Excellent links, AP. Some good stuff in there. Note Thursday's schedule link doesn't work, but you can access it from the others (or just remove the "r" in "thur") :)

Thx again,

all do respect what you are saying.
you found paradise building a game,
and now you want to expand it. turn dreams into reality...

*scratch my nose* but, sooner or later you will need to pay
this sum, to manufacturers, patent *wave my hand* list goes on.

if you can cough up $50,000, well see
you need the $350,000 to publish it.
if you are publishing it you have a publisher.
if you have a publisher then you have publisher money.
if you have publisher money you pay the $350,000
