I don't think you can get that info easily, as it goes to stdout. You'd have to use a pipe and kidnap the output, and then parse it...

You may want to look into the Windows functions for listing directory contents instead. I believe the relevant functions are FindFirstFile and FindNextFile.

Not at all robust, but simple: do 'system("dir > dirlisting.txt")' instead, and then open and parse the file (and unlink it afterwards). I'm sure you can see there are many possible things that could go wrong with that, though.
