Things like this prove it is possible (the program embeds a python interpreter - you could build on it, somebody might have already produced a standalone interpreter), but unless you're a console hacker, it's probably not the route you want to take.

There's been some debate as to whether python is practical on anything but Xbox in this generation. Some people have squeezed it onto PS2, but I'm not sure how much they suffered for it.

Is it possible to write games for those platforms only in Python? Probably not, and it wouldn't be practical to do so.

There are some games (like the Fairly OddParents game) that have used embedded Python that I can remember from this generation of console games.
