ClanLib and light effects

I am using ClanLib for my 2d grid-based strategy game. Is it possible to add light effects using ClanLib's own lightsources? I am a beginner with these things and I cannot find any good documents. All I want to do is to add light to certain areas, for example grids around fire at night. And it would be nice to control global light-level too... Or is there relatively "easy" way to do it without ClanLib?
