Hey guys, Is there any way to inject your own Ortho (pre-rendered/rendered) video stream into rendered output (ie: what your digital cable box does to the tv output with it's menu overlays)? Can this be done in both OpenGL and DirectX? Thanks - Eric

Not exactly sure what you're looking for here, but if you want to play video files on surfaces you're rendering, eg a quad in a GUI or some such, this tutorial might be of some help, for OpenGL anyway:

yes it is possible, however i dont know how. Powerstrip does it (it displays the stats of the actual resolution etc when it changes, in normal windows, opengl and dx)

i could imagine that it is done by somehow obtain the topmost dc/hwnd etc and then drawing directly to it...

NeverSayDie:
No... that is not what I was looking for... The exact opposite really :).

Yea, that's exactly what I mean. I know programs that do it... but I am not sure how they accomplish that.

Any other help?
