Rendering of Non-Symmetrical Deformable Datasets
Hello, I am attempting to write a renderer for some scientific data. The data is conceptually similar to a heightmap. The only problem is that the height of the data can change, and the data may or may not be symmetrical (i.e 128x128, 256x256 .. etc).
I have tried the quadtree approach, which seems to work OK, and I can update the heights of the data points. However, the the quadtree doesn't work so well for irregular datasets.
Is there a good method for rendering an irregular, deformable "heightmap"? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
