Not specifically, but you can determine whether a software driver is in use (which is a sure sign that it won't be).

You can tell that a software driver is in use, typically if the vendor string is someone who doesn't make hardware drivers, for example, Microsoft or Brian Paul (Author of the MESA software opengl implementation).

If a hardware driver is in use (Nvidia, ATI etc), that is no guarantee that a particular context is hardware accelerated however, because it might be restricted by the options you've chosen or hardware to require software rendering.
