Mapping for the human face

Can someone tell me what sort of mapping you would use for the human face. Also what is the advantage of sewing uv's. Thanks

This is more an art related question, and you should ask this on the art forum if you want a more precise answer - but this answer is probably cylindric mapping (have a look to the head texture map).

It is better to tweak uv coord once the first map is ok, in order to maximize each projected triangle surface - because if the surface of each triangle is maximized,
* you can add more details on these triangles
* the map is not distorded on this traingles when is is applied.
