Procedural clouds in GLSL help needed

I have the orange book, and am trying to do the simple cloud example and am having no luck with the clouds working, due to I have no 3d noise texture to use and have tried the noise3() and seems to be not working??? I have a 6800GT. I am not sure about posting the code due to its from the orange book. Any help would be great. Thanks.

noise is not supported yet by the drivers, goto www.opengl.org check the glsl forum from about 3 months ago a guy wrote some substitution code that works well

Thanks to both of you for posting... From what I see the code you both posted is for making outside of the shader and uploading to a 3d texture object and then sending that to GLSL if I am correct? I would like to make the 3D noise in the shader due to I am using Render Monkey. I hope I make sense now of what I am trying to get at. If either one of you have a simple 3d noise texture and would like to send it to me please do... I would appreciate it. Thanks
