Is there a way to detect which object you are 'touching' or 'close to' in the 3d world. I'm loading a mesh file of a room and I need to be able to attach certain information to certain objects in the room. And when the person gets 'close' or 'touches' the object (in the 3D walk threw) I need to show them the necessary information that pertains to that specific object. Thank you,

You have to think more generically. Do you want to cast a ray forward from the camera/player/character to intersect objects? Do you just want to detect the mouse cursor hovering the objects? Do you want to use a sphere or box shape to detect overlapping other object polygons? Or do you want to actually know when the polygons of two objects touch each other?

Those are listed in order of difficulty [smile]

edit: Actually, the most simple method would be attaching spheres or boxes to all objects and detecting the overlap of those primitive shapes.
