[.net] RSS feeds

I seem to recall .Net having some classes specifically for RSS feeds. Am I crazy, have I been working too long today, or do they actually exist?

No classes specifically for RSS feeds, but there is that whole System.Xml namespace thingy...

yeah, I'll definitely NOT be able to use any open source software for this.

Though the specification doesn't look that complex.

I presume v2 is compatible with v1 streams?

What do you mean by open source? GPL? LPGL? Apache licensing? Did you ever bother to read the license terms for the suggested links? Open source doesn't necessarily mean GPL, you might still want to investigate that further.

It means he wants to write it himself. There are a thousand possible reasons for not using OS, just as there are a thousand for using it. Just respect his decision, ffs, and lets not let this thread descend into another idiotic zealot war.

Hello, I'm sorry if you think I'm starting a "idiotic zealot war", that was certainly not my intention.

The question was about "some classes specifically for RSS feeds". To me that's different from "wants to write it himself". To me, you either want something existing for RSS feeds, or you want to write it yourself and the thread creator was asking about existing classes.

Also, my impression was that the thread creator wanted to include some RSS code in some commercial code, and that writing commercial code means you cannot use "Open Source" - which isn't true. Thus it seemed reasonable to question if he'd understood the licensing terms, to make him understand that these existing classes can be part of commercial code.

Doodle_sketch, to me it's unclear how this could be seen as starting a war, but I'm sorry if that's the impression you got.
I fully understand the licensing terms of various OSS licenses, inluding the BSD license being used for the links that were provided. The issue is not a matter of licensing, it is a matter of customer requirements explicitly stating that OSS must NOT be used in the product.
