freakishly annoying problem

Whenever I change the build settings in VS 2003 from debug to release, nothing happens. It shows that Release is chosen, but when I open the project properties back up again it is back to Debug. I don't understand this! I am working with C#, if that matters.

Incredible. Literally 5 seconds after posting my question, I found the same option in the Build menu, and it worked. It all makes sense now.

Well, how do you change it then? Using that drop down thingy on the toolbar?

Yes, you use the Configuration Manager under Build.
