I just have a question about the clear() method of the STL list. The documentation that I have come across for it, says that it will delete all the elements in a list. If the list is holding dynamic memory pointers, will it 'delete' those objects as well? ... or just will it just remove the pointers from the list?

No. You must manage any memory you allocate. It will manage any memory it allocates. So when you call clear, it will erase all of the elements from the list, but if those elements happen to be pointers, it will not call delete on them.
