I am putting music in my game, in the form of mp3. I have already got it working with the XAudio library (to decode the MP3), but I was wandering if perhaps DirectShow is the better way to go. Does any one know which of the two (xaudio, directShow) take put the least strain on the system? I dont want my game to take much of a performance hit because of the music. I also like how DirectShow can load so many different file types, so if i chose this, i could use wav, mp3, mid etc... If you know how their performance compares, plz let me know. I am already aware about functionality, just not performance.
