Including BitMaps in an SDL app

In Win32, I learned to put bitmaps in a resource file as such.. IDC_MAINBMP BITMAP "main.bmp" I then defined IDC_MAINBMP in the resource.h file, and could use IDC_MAINBMP to load the bitmap. The main advantage of doing this was that the bitmap was included in the executable. This made it easier to distribute. Is there a way to get this same effect in SDL? I have learned about the SDL_LoadBMP funtion, but it takes a file name as its argument. So if you run the executable without the bitmap files in the same directory, the bitmaps will not show up. Thanks for any suggestions. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am using Bloodshed Dev c++ on Windows 2000
