Currently I'm trying to implement a memory manager and I've been looking around for info about garbage collection and I've decided to do a version of the mark-sweep approach. This approach consists of marking all used objects and deleting the unsed objects. The problem is I don't know where to begin to implement the marking phase. I don't know how to find data on the stack and check if the data references anything. Can this be done in C++? Do I need to use some assembly? I'm lost, any help is appreciated.

There's a great article about garbage collection on WikiPedia Here.

I'm not sure it will fully answer your question, but perhaps it will give you a good starting off point.

Cheers, mate, and good luck!
