ASM/C++ questions

How would I go about implementing a find-like programing that windows has in assembly? Are there procedures that do this? Also, how would you do this in C++? I looked through all the functions and couldnt find anything about directories. I know java has some methods for that so I thought C++ would have something like that.

I meant to say search.

I want to do it in assembly because I just learned it but havent really made any real programs with it.
