OpenGL 'free' is undeclared

I used to use GLUT, but now I switched to making OpenGL with a WIN32 apps, The way I used to load image files with glut doesn't work anymore (malloc underclared), so I just went to NeHe's tutorial for texture mapping where loading BMPs are explained, there are no errors except that it says 'free' function is undeclared. I never had this problem before when I used GLUT, does anybody know what could be wrong?

Its possible that something in GLUT was including the standard header files for you. Since you're no longer using GLUT you'll need to include the header files yourself. Likely header files you need to add are:

<stdlib.h> and <malloc.h>
