I have dx6.1 and I use borland and mingw32 when i try compiling any of the examples with mingw I get syntax errors. I can''t even get borland to work with it. anyone know why I am thinking it is the examples that came with it. could someone tell me how to fix this.

Are you using the correct libs for the Mingw32 compiler? You can''t use the ones that come with the Microsoft DirectX SDK, y''know. Secondly, it would help greatly if you post the error messages that you receive from the compiler.

64 wormhole.cpp
syntax error before `=''
65 wormhole.cpp
syntax error before `=''

and like 10 more of those and then

88 wormhole.cpp
`DDSURFACEDESC2'' undeclared (first use this function)
88 wormhole.cpp
parse error before `;''
115 wormhole.cpp
`g_pDD'' u360 wormhole.cpp
`IID_IDirectDraw4'' undeclared (first use this function)
ndeclared (first use this function)

there is a total of 15 errors accroding to devc++
I am using the ones that came with the sdk where do i get different ones?

The errors you get indicates that the problem is with the header files. Are you sure that it can be built with your dx6.1?
